Korston - official hotel of the Russian Beach Volleyball Grand Slam
On 30 June 2008, the first Russian Beach Volleyball Grand Slam opened in Moscow. The Russian Grand Slam, being a part of the World Tournament – 2008 (the eleventh for men, and the tenth for women), has become Russia’s debut at such a high level. According to FIVB (Federation internationale de volleyball) supervisor Peter Greshchuk, Moscow Grand Slam has all the potential to become a landmark of the World Tournament – 2008. Greshchuk has highly appreciated the location chosen by the Organization Committee for the tournament – Poklonnaya Gora, and praised Korston as the Russian Grand Slam official hotel. He has been quoted as saying, ‘In contrast to Luzhniki, Poklonnaya Gora is quite a different scale of the event. As far as infrastructure is concerned, there is also nothing to criticize. In quite a short time span two modern stadiums were erected seating 5,500 and 2,000 people... Let alone the tournament official hotel (Korston – ed.) and transport – these two factors are always immaculate in Moscow. The only thing left to strive for is the tribunes filled to the full during the matchs – it goes without saying that this is the key element of success’.
